HONDA PART # 509600-MY1-810

The centre stand kit includes all
parts to fit the stand - including
a couple of exhaust gaskets.
The rubber bung must
be fitted to the stand
before the stand is
fitted to the bike.
(Not as per Honda
 Instructions)

Part 1: Fitting the centre stand to the bike.

This whole task can be completed with the bike standing on the
side-stand. The paperwork provided by Honda shows the bike on
the side stand, but says don't use it. I had no problems using it.
According to the instructions, the fist task is to remove the seat and
right hand side panel - you don't really need to, but it protects the
side panel from getting accidentally scratched
Next, remove the sump-guard. (Not mentioned in the instructions)

Remove the whole guard using the 4 big mounting bolts, not the
small screws and nuts - which are impossible to remove anyway
without removing the guard from the bike first.

Finally, remove the exhaust. Take the manifold bolts out of the head
first, then loosen the joint under the rear brake lever, and then
remove the bolts holding the silencer onto the frame. Finally, remove
the 2 exhaust gaskets from the head

The pivot bushes fit through the frame as above, push them half
way through, then fit the centre stand, then the washer and split pin.
NOTE: In the photos above the washers and pins are fitted to show
their location, they were removed before fitting the stand.
This needs to be done on both sides, and then the split pin must be
bent over securely.

The spring mounting clip is fitted to the left hand side of the bike, there is a pin sticking out of
the frame to mount it on. First remove the bolt mounting the rubber chain guide, push the
block to the left, insert the bracket, and replace the bolt in the block.

NOTE: It is easier to attach this bracket after mounting the stand on the bike, this will ensure
that it is mounted above rather than below the stand. (Not as per the Honda Instructions)

Attach the springs to the clip, and lever the other end over the lug on the stand. This is a strong
spring - so BE CAREFUL - it hurts when you slip. (See section above for pictures)

There are two methods for doing this:

  • Use a heavy screwdriver, and a hammer to lever the spring over the stand, and then tap
it into place. Each spring will slip off at least once, and trap your fingers - my painful tip.
  • Push coins (or washers) in between the spring coils. This has the effect of making the springs longer so they can be fitted over the lugs easier. It takes about 20 washers (2 pence piece size) for each spring. When the springs are on, simply pull the coins out. Thanks to Paul Hodson for this tip!

And that's it, the stand is on the bike,
replace the sump guard, side panel
and seat and you're finished part 1.

Part 2: Fitting the lifting handle to the frame.

The last task is to fit the grab handle that allows the bike to be lifted onto the centre-stand.
Without it you have to lift the bike by grabbing hold of the footpeg - it's much easier on the hand to
use the grab handle.
Remove the bolts, fit the handle, then the footpeg, and replace the bolts.
Torque them to 27Nm or 20ft-lb.

More detailed information can be found on the instructions provided with the stand.
It is recommended that the above tips are used in conjunction with the Honda instructions.
Check the price from your local dealer - approx £90 in the UK - and it fits without any modifications!
